about

Compiling tracks from Lapse's past recordings, Ephemeral (A Minor Setback) is Lapse's second full-length album, and a collection of singles and previously unreleased songs, a majority of them named after things that don't last that long, hence the title Ephemeral (e.g. fog, vapour, ice, Bastion).

"Vapor", "Anthrax Beta", "Blinding Fog", "Snowdrift" and "Riftwave" are tracks from the old Aetheric EP. "Smog", "Crystalline Ice Structures" and "An Anthem For Siege Automaton E54 Of SST Laboratories (Bastion's Song)" are unreleased studio tracks that never saw the light of day prior (except for An Anthem, which was released on the official Lapse SoundCloud prior). "Échapper à La Vie" is a nearly 8-minute ambient track inspired by and dedicated to the work of William Basinski. It uses the noise/glitch piece "Decompile the Dream" from one of Somnambulist's old "Kayla Mars" revisions as background ambiance.

Ephemeral (A Minor Setback) is Lapse's album for those with shorter attention spans that don't really want to sit through an entire gapless electronic concept album, and Ephemeral possesses a plethora of more upbeat tracks which can be played on their own easier in contrast to Somnambulist (Awoken) or Despair's darker tracks.

credits

released March 7, 2017

All songs mixed, mastered and created by J. Madaffari (Lapse). Produced and recorded from March 2016 to February 2017.

Track 1 features heavily modulated voice samples, kind courtesy of K. Madaffari.

Track 4 (aka Bastion's Song) has manipulated sampled voice clips from the Overwatch character Bastion. Overwatch and its characters are - obviously - NOT owned by Lapse, but by Blizzard Entertainment. Just a fun little homage to our favourite bullet-spewing Omnic.
